Encore, a new Black magazine, has established an editorship in Jewish affairs, Ida Lewis, the magazine’s publisher-editor, announced today. Mrs. Jean R. Herschaft, an Anglo-Jewish journalist and publicist was named to the post.

Encore uses a format similar to Time and Newsweek. According to Mrs. Lewis, it is an international Black magazine that includes viewpoints of other ethnic groups and seeks to promote readership outside the Black community. She said it hoped to unite the ethnic community by highlighting its common interests as well as problems. Upcoming articles on Jewish subjects include a profile of Russian activist Boris Kochubievsky and a series on Judaism and the Women’s Liberation Movement.
