Herman L. Weisman. president of the Zionist Organization of America, claimed today that President Nixon “stands an excellent chance” of doubling the Jewish vote he received in 1968 in next November’s Presidential elections. Weisman, who arrived here for the ZOA’s 75th jubilee convention which opens tomorrow, predicted a strong Jewish vote for Nixon on the basis of three “principal accomplishments” of the Nixon administration in the Middle East.
He said these were the initiation and extension of the Aug. 1970 cease-fire; the President’s public expressions and actions in support of Israel; and Nixon’s policy of maintaining a balance of military potential between Israel and the Arab states. Weisman stressed that the American Presidential elections would not be an agenda item at the ZOA convention.
