James Coates, a member of the self-styled Black Hebrew sect in Dimona, was sentenced yesterday to three years in prison for killing a fellow member of his sect. Four co-defendants were each sentenced to six months imprisonment for conspiring to assault and do bodily harm to the victim, Cornell Kirkpatrick. Kirkpatrick was killed by hatchet blows during a clash between two groups of Black Hebrews six months ago.

The first telephone book published in Los Angeles in 1882 contained the names of seven Jewish families, the first in that city.
