After months of acceptance by newcomers from Russia of designated places of settlement in Israel without turmoil, six Jewish families from Georgia who arrived from Vienna staged a sit-in strike at Lydda Airport over the flats they were offered. The 22 members of the six families said they would not leave the airport until they were given housing where they wanted it. After two days, police were called in and evacuated the six families from the Absorption Ministry offices at the airport.
