Finance Minister Pinhas Sapir announced that 36,000 housing units in Jerusalem have been ear-marked for young married couples over the next two years. Sapir said loans for the purchase of the flats would be limited to units priced from $17-$21,000.

Hillel Seidel, head of the Histadrut’s absorption department, asked Sapir to consider extending special incentives to yordim–Israelis living abroad–to return during the nation’s 25th anniversary year. He said incentives were required because nearly all of them have become established citizens of the countries in which they live.
