A letter which seemed suspiciously heavy to a clerk at the Israel Embassy contained a bomb which the Montreal police bomb squad dismantled today in a secluded spot. The letter was mailed from Amsterdam and was addressed to Consul General Pinhas Shaanon. A police bomb squad officer confirmed that the letter contained an explosive but declined to specify its composition. The Consulate said it was the first incident against an Israeli office in Canada.
