Latin American Jewish Congress, Wzo, to Hold Conference in Lima

The sixth community conference convened by the Latin American Jewish Congress and the World Zionist Organization will be held in Lima, Peru Oct. 28-Nov. 2, it was announced today. About 250 delegates representing Jewish communities and Zionist federations in Latin America will attend.

The conference will be addressed by Louis A. Pincus, chairman of the World Zionist Executive, Dr. Nahum Goldmann, president of the World Jewish Congress, Gerhard Riegner, secretary general of the WJC, and Avraham Shenkar, head of the WZO’s organization department. Yosef Kerler, the eminent Jewish poet who emigrated from the Soviet Union, and distinguished Peruvian personalities will participate in a mass meeting devoted to the problems of Soviet Jewry. The conference will also deal with such topics as Jewish community life, education, youth, the Middle East and the Zionist program.

Some 350,000 Jews have passed through Vienna since the Six-Day War on their way to relocation, mostly in Israel, according to Theodore D.Feder, associate director general of the JDC.
