The establishment of a Commission on American Colleges to be headed by prominent scholars and educators, academicians and rabbis to combat the indifference and hostility among Jewish students to Judaism and to the State of Israel, and to fight the negative influence of Jewish youth on the campus, was announced yesterday by Dr. Maurice Sage, the newly elected president of the Religious Zionists of America, to the 500 delegates attending the annual convention.

Dr. Sage announced that the chairman of the new commission will be Rabbi Emanuel Rackman, the newly elected chairman of the RZA’s Board of Governors and that the new commission would “develop lines of communication with college youth on the campus and publish literature on the compatibility of Judaism with modern life and its relevance to the young Jew.”

Dr. Sage said the increase in anti-Semitism and anti-Israel propaganda can be expected from young radicals who have embraced the cause of El Fatal or other Arab terrorist groups and have become stridently anti-Israel. He warned that young Jews attracted to this ideology can cause damage to the American Jewish community and to the cause of Israel, Dr. Sags said that the commission will work with other existing Jewish organizations on the campus and with students.
