Edward Ginsberg, chairman of the Joint Distribution Committee, has announced a $5 million grant to Malben, the JDC program in Israel, for the establishment of a gerontological institute. The grant, which is expected to bring matching funds from local groups in Israel, will provide for a comprehensive program including a 100-bed nursing facility, an out-patient department, 50 apartments accommodating 100 aged, research into all aspects of aging and an endowment fund to help train professional and para-professional personnel to work with the aged. Ralph Goldman, associate director-general of JDC/Malben, will report on the Institute at the JDC annual meeting Dec. 6. Isaac Stern, the noted violinist, will be the principal speaker at the luncheon session of the day-long meeting.
