EL AL maintenance crews ended their undeclared work slowdown today under pressure of mans garment and Histadrut rut threats to take severe action against the slowdown leaders. But some observers said it was not certain that the return to normal operations was permanent.

The rule-book slowdown which delayed El Al departures was never officially acknowledged by the maintenance workers and they were able to return to their normal schedules without loss of face. By the same token, they could revert to the slowdown at any time, one source said. An El Al management spokesman said the maintenance workers had never presented any demands. He said the slowdown occurred simply because other unions won similar ten as and the maintenance workers “resent not being the highest paid workers.”
