Fifty-thousand pounds of food which the Israeli government purchased here for the relief of earthquake victims in Managua, Nicaragua, left Miami International Airport today aboard a plane of Lanic, the Nicaraguan national airline. The cartons carried the inscription, “Food for the children of Nicaragua from Israel. Shalom.”
At the airport to see off the shipment was Benjamin Bonney, Consul General of Israel for the Southeast region of the U.S., who flew in from Atlanta, and Luis De Bayle, Consul General of Nicaragua. “The food shipment was consigned to the National Emergency Commission in Managua. The food purchases were arranged and coordinated by Ms. Mori Fremon, acting on behalf of the Israel government. The food was delivered to the airport by the International Center of the Nicaraguan Relief Committee here.
