Hundreds of young people from the New York metropolitan area will celebrate Israel’s 25th anniversary aboard the Staten Island Ferry, cruising New York harbor Wednesday evening. Rain or shine, the boat will leave Whitehall St. ferry terminal, Slip 3, Manhattan, and sail past such historic sites as the Statue of Liberty, the UN, and the Verrazano Bridge, among others. Throughout the trip, food, cocktails, entertainment and dancing will be featured. Boarding time will be 7:30 p.m. The event is being sponsored by the young leadership division of the United Jewish Appeal of Greater New York, a volunteer group of single adults in their 20s and 30s. Proceeds will go to support UJA’s worldwide humanitarian programs.

A $250,000 gift to Yeshiva University by the Adas Israel Congregation of Fall River, Mass., was announced last night by Dr. Samuel Belkin, president of Yeshiva University, at a dinner in Hotel Commodore in New York.
