A “Sabbath of Concern for Iraqi and Syrian Jewry” has been declared by the New York Board of Rabbis “to highlight the terror under which the two Jewries are living,” it was announced today. Rabbis in the metropolitan area will preach on the subject at services Friday night and Saturday morning Last week, in a proclamation designating Solidarity Day for Iraqi and Syrian Jews, Mayor John V. Lindsay called on the UN Commission on Human Rights to “intervene and alleviate the suffering of the Jews of Iraq and Syria.”
