Israeli Ambassador Yosef Tekoah formally requested today a separate vote on the admission of the two Germanys to the world organization. Tekoah, who returned here yesterday from Israel, made his request through Bradford Morse. Undersecretary General for Political and General Assembly Affairs.
The question of admitting East and West Germany will be taken up at the opening meeting of the General Assembly’s fall session tomorrow. Present plans call for approval by acclamation instead of by formal vote. Tekoah’s request would make a formal vote mandatory and would separate the question of admitting West Germany from that of East Germany.
Prior to leaving Israel yesterday, Tekoah indicated that Israel would vote for the admission of the Federal Republic of West Germany and against admission of the East German Democratic Republic.
