Franciscan Father Herman-Leo van Breda, a long-time friend of Israel and the Jewish people is dead at 63. Father van Breda, who was awarded the Yad Vashem Medal for his support of Jews during the Nazi occupation, was a professor at the Catholic University at Louvain. He was a member of the administrative councils of the “Belgian Friends of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem” committee and the “Belgian-Israeli Friendship” committee.
