A bridge, 14 kilometers long, over the Guanabara Bay linking Rio de Janeiro with the city of Niteroi, was opened to vehicular traffic last week. The bridge, whose construction began in Nov. 1968, was largely financed by Leopold Rothschild, the London banker. His contribution amounted to almost $100 million.
