More than 800 Soviet Jews were turned back and pelted with stones by Kiev police as they attempted to commemorate the 23rd anniversary this week of the Babi Yar ravine massacre. the Student Struggle for Soviet Jewry reported. At the same time, the SSSJ reported, 87 Jews from three Soviet cities signed a request to the Communist Party for permission to erect a proper monument on the site where 100.000 Jews were murdered by the Nazis.
