The Attorney General of New Jersey, William Hyland, said he was investigating nursing homes in New Jersey owned by Rabbi Bernard Bergman. Hyland said the New Jersey probe had been started after the New Jersey Health Commissioner Joanne Finley sent information to Hyland from Assemblyman Andrew Stein of New York chairman of the New York State Temporary Commission on Living Costs, which has been investigating a number of Bergman homes in New York City charged with fiscal irregularities and inadequate patient care.
