Engineers reported Thursday that the rupture in the Eilat-Ashkelon-oil pipeline Wednesday was the result of a technical malfunction and not an act of sabotage. The damage was estimated at IL 1 million. The pipeline company said the damaged section of pipe was being replaced and the oil flow was expected to be resumed later today. The accident did not interrupt the discharge of oil from tankers at Eilat or the loading of oil aboard tankers at Ashkelon on the Mediterranean coast.
