37 Senators, 13 Governors Join Jnf’s National Committee for Bicentennial Park in Israel; Katzir, Hon

Thirty-seven Senators and 13 Governors have become members of the National Committee for the American Bicentennial National Park in Israel. it was announced by Abram Salomon. JNF executive vice-president. He also disclosed that President Ephraim Katzir of Israel has accepted the Honorary Patronage of the Bicentennial Park. Salomon indicated that additional Senators and Governors are expected to join the distinguished roster of those who are presently members of the Committee.

The Bicentennial Park, which is the largest and newest project undertaken by the Jewish National Fund of America and which is endorsed by the American Revolution Bicentennial Administration, will reclaim a vast region in the Judean mountains southwest of Jerusalem which has been desolate since Biblical times.

Thousands of acres of land will be transformed into a green paradise of forests, roads recreation areas, campsites and observation towers, and will bring the neighboring settlements into the daily lifeline of modern Israel. The park will reflect the American heritage by honoring American heroes of all faiths who contributed to the greatness of our nation.

The Governors who have accepted comprise. Wendell R. Anderson of Minnesota, Dolph Briscoe of Texas, Hugh L. Carey of New York, Daniel J. Evans of Washington, J.J. Exon of Nebraska, Ella Grasso of Connecticut, R.F. Kneip of South Dakota, Richard D. Lamm of Colorado, Arch A, Moore, Jr. of West Virginia. Philip Noel of Rhode Island. Thomas P. Salmon of Vermont, Bob Straib of Oregon and Dan Walker of Illinois.

The Senators who are now members include; Birch Bayh, Edward W. Brooke, Lloyd Bentsen, James L. Buckley. Clifford P. Case. Frank Church. Vance Hartke. Mark O. Hatfield. Hubert H. Humphrey. Daniel K. Inouye, Henry M. Jackson, Jacob K. Javits, Edward M. Kennedy. George S. McGovern, Edmund Muskie, Charles H. Percy. Abraham Ribicoff, Hugh Scott. Richard Stone, Robert Taft, Jr., and John V. Tunney and Harrison A. Williams.
