Governor Hugh Carey last week signed a bill permitting savings banks, savings and loan associations and credit unions in New York State to buy State of Israel Bonds. The bill was sponsored jointly in the Legislature by State Senator Roy Goodman of Manhattan and State Assemblyman Leonard Silverman of Brooklyn.
