A group of French economists, businessmen and lawyers announced today the establishment of a National Movement for the Freedom of Trade to combat trade restrictions imposed on religious, racial or political grounds. The movement, aimed at the Arab boycott of Israel, will hold its first public meeting here tomorrow night.
Its founders include the French political philosopher Raymond Aron; former Premier Maurice Bourges Maunoury; former Foreign Minister Maurice Paure; Paul Jacob; former president of the Bar Association Maurice Rolland; and the former President of the French Supreme Court, Pierre Uri.
The group hopes to help French deputies with legislation that would prevent French banks and companies from complying with boycotts stemming from illegal grounds. The organizing committee says it has documents and other factual proof that a number of banks, including the government controlled Credit Lyonnais have been helping the Arab boycott in France.
