About 100,000 immigrants and army veterans participated in activities related to Absorption Month in June, according to a report by the Ministry of Absorption which sponsored the event. About 5500 immigrants did volunteer work for the army, visited Nahal (para-military) settlements and played host to soldiers in their homes, the Ministry said.
Another 3500 immigrants visited kibbutzim throughout the country while others attended seminars and related activities aimed at a better understanding of absorption problems. Many volunteers were engaged in cleaning-up projects in neighborhoods populated with immigrants.
