The National Conference on Soviet Jewry has learned that Odessa activist Shmuel Bronfman arrived in Israel with his wife Raya, who was recently hospitalized in the Soviet Union for leukemia. The Bronfmans were originally refused a visa on the grounds that the “Soviet Union has the capability of taking care of life as well as death.” Bronfman appealed to emigrate to be reunited with his parents and on the grounds of his wife’s health just one month ago.
