The statue of a Hungarian Jew, Moritz Fisher, the creator of modern porcelain, was inaugurated last week in the city of Herend. Government members and high party officials attended the ceremony which marked the 150th anniversary of the porcelain factory he created. Fisher started the factory in 1826 and soon exported china to the British court the Vatican and the homes of Europe’s princes and kings.
