The American Jewish Committee expressed gratification at a “productive meeting” last Friday between Committee leaders and Argentinian statesmen during which the Argentinians voiced strong opposition to recent anti-Semitic manifestations in their country and promised vigorous countermeasures. Both Rear Admiral Cesar Augusto Guzzetti, Argentine Foreign Minister, Carlos Ortiz de Rosas, the Argentine Ambassador to the United Nations, also rejected completely recent attempts in the UN to link Zionism with racism, a Committee spokesman said, and “vehemently condemned” international terrorism. Richard Maass, chairman of the AJCommittee’s board of governors, reported that the Argentinians felt that to some extent their country had been singled out for criticism unfairly.
