Some 1838 Immigrants arrived in November, a slight increase from the same month last year. But whereas, immigration from Eastern Europe dropped from 1004 last November to 793 this year, the number of immigrants from North America rose from 208 in 1975 to 284 in 1976, and the number of immigrants from South America doubled from 103 to 223. The number of immigrants from South Africa rose from 23 in November, 1975 to 78 in November, 1976.
Some 17,921 immigrants arrived from the beginning of the year. Compared to 18.190 in the corresponding period last year. The main increase during the year was in immigration from Argentina which rose from 796 last year to 1446 this year.
There was a slight drop in the rate of Vienna dropouts of Soviet arrivals–from 58 percent in October to 55 percent in November. As in previous months, most of the dropouts are from the large cities in the European area of the USSR. The figures appear in the latest report of the Jewish Agency Immigration and Absorption Department.
