East Germany to Mark the Centenary of Einstein’s Birth

East Germany is preparing for the centenary marking Albert Einstein’s birth. It will be celebrated in March, 1979. The East German government has set up a special committee which will assemble Einstein’s manuscripts, rearrange the archives available at the Berlin University and restore the small house in the village of Caputh, south of Berlin, where Einstein spent several years. The East German government plans to turn the Einstein centenary into a major celebration due to be attended by tens of thousands of visitors from both east and west.
