Israel has offered to open its Mediterranean ports of Haifa and Ashdod to traffic to and from Jordan, Transport Minister Gad Yaacobi revealed Friday. He said Jordan has not acted on the proposal. Yaacobi, speaking on Israel Radio, said that the proposal was made to Jordan through Arab personalities on the West Bank. “We made this suggestion as a natural continuation of the open bridges policy,” he said. Since the 1967 Six-Day War, there has been free passage of people and goods over the Jordan River bridges.
