The government of Israel has awarded a Belgian woman, Mrs. Georgette Piron, and her mother, Mrs. Alice Goossens, now living in nearby Fairfax, Virginia, medals and certificates in recognition of helping to enable 38 Jews and non-Jews to elude deportation to work camps in Germany during the five years the Nazis occupied Belgium.
