A special 50th anniversary issue of the “Yiddishe Presse” was published last week. The “Yiddishe Presse” was founded in 1929 as the first Yiddish daily in Brazil, but it soon switched to weekly publication. Its editor and publisher since 1951 has been David Markus, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency correspondent in Brazil.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
