Several suspected terrorists from Isawiyeh village near Jerusalem have been arrested as possible associates of an Arab who was killed when a bomb in his possession exploded prematurely. The body of the victim was found near Latrun. He was identified as a resident of Isawiyeh and is believed to have been on a sabotage mission. A curfew was imposed on the village yesterday while suspects were rounded up.
Meanwhile, six Israeli police officers, including one woman, have been charged by a police court with assaulting an Arab prisoner in his jail cell. The prisoner, accused of murdering an Israeli reserves soldier last month, was allegedly beaten and kicked by the police officers and the jailer who opened his cell door. If convicted, the officers face sentences of up to six years’ imprisonment for mistreating a prisoner in their custody.
