President Anwar Sadat of Egypt had high praise for Israeli Premier Menachem Begin yesterday. He also said he saw no obstacles on the road to implementing the Israeli-Egyptian peace treaty and reiterated his pledge to appoint an Egyptian Ambassador to Israel next year after Israeli forces withdraw to the EI Arish-Ras Mouhammed line in Sinai.
Sadat, who visited EI Arish in northern Sinai for prayer services in celebration of the Moslem feast of Id el Adha, spoke to a group of Israeli journalists who were permitted to enter the Egyptian-held town. He said Begin’s contribution to the peace process was enormous. But he refused to comment on the possible implications any changes in the Israeli government may have for the peace process. These are an internal issue of Israel, he told the reporters.
