Some 2817 immigrants arrived in Israel last month, Yehuda Dominitz, director general of the Jewish Agency immigration and absorption department, told the Agency Executive. Most of the immigrants are Russian, but the dropout rate last month was still 65.3 percent, he said.
Some 34, 500 immigrants arrived so far this year. By the end of the year, Dominitz predicted, the number may reach 38, 000, on increase of 50 percent compared to last year. There was a slight rise last month in the number of immigrants from France and. Great Britain, compared to a drop in the number of immigrants from South Africa and Argentina, Dominitz reported. Some 17,000 immigrants are now in the absorption centers of the Jewish Agency, an Increase of 1000 compared to October, he said.
