The Palestine Liberation Organization organized an exhibition here of Palestinian art posters and pictures which showed the “Tragedy of the Palestinian People Under Zionist Domination. “The drawings by Palestinian artist Karkoutly were praised by the Mexican leftist press and political parties.
But some Mexican artists criticized the gallery where the exhibition was held. “Israel is a progressive country despite her government and the Israeli people do not deserve such offenses,” the Mexican artist, Fanny Rabell, declared. Other artists agreed with her.
Meanwhile, Marwan Tanboub, the PLO representative in Mexico, attacked Israeli policy in the occupied territories at a regional conference of the United Nations Commission for Human Rights. He charged that Israel has destroyed thousands of Arab villages and killed many civilians.
