The Cabinet, as part of its continuing effort to stem inflation, has announced that anyone who earned more than IL 700,000 last year will have to pay an additional 5-10 percent on their income tax. Government critics immediately denounced the decision, made last Friday, as an indirect way of raising the income tax. The government said the tax will be a one-time levy.
