Heinz-Guenther Wisner, a 65-year-old former SS official, went on trial in a Duesseldorf court Wednesday on charges of murdering 31 Jewish inmates of the Riga-Kaiserwald concentration camp during World War II. Wisner had been in custody since June, 1980. Court officials said the trial would last about six months and would hear testimony from 52 witnesses, most of whom live outside Germany.
