Sommy Davis Jr. will be leaving for Israel July 12 as part of the Operation “Shalom to Israel ’82” in which celebrities have been invited by El Al Israel Airlines and the Association for the Welfare of Soldiers in Israel. Jane Fonda, Tom Hayden, George Segal and others have already participated and plans are currently underway to organize visits by Danny Kaye, Peter Strauss, Kirk Douglas, Milton Berle, Mickey Rooney and Walter Matthau, an El Al spokesman said.
