A bill which calls on the Soviet Union to honor its commitment to the Helsinki accords by allowing Prisoner of Conscience Anatoly Shcharansky to emigrate to Israel has been passed unanimously by the State Senate and Assembly. State Senator David Roberti (D. Los Angeles) authored the bill. State Assembly Speaker Willie Brown, Jr. carried the resolution in the Assembly. The Bay Area Council on Soviet Jewry, a member of the Union of Councils for Soviet Jews, is listed as a sponsor of the bill.
