Israeli jets bombed a terrorist base in Lebanon’s Bekaa valley today, an army spokesman said. The planes blasted a base in the village of Bar Elias which was operated by terrorist forces of Abu-Musa, a rival of PLO leader Yasir Arafat. The base had been used as a local headquarters and point of departure for terrorist attacks on Israel. The army said all Israeli planes returned safely to their base. Today’s raid was the first in six weeks. The last Israeli action in Lebanon was on June 27 when jets attacked an island off the coast near Tripoli.
