Ten Dutch organizations for the prevention of cruelty to animals have protested to the Dutch government over Jewish and Moslem methods of ritual slaughter. The petition demands the early introduction of stringent conditions for the ritual slaughters. In their review, the present techniques for stunning an animal before slaughter would not contravene Jewish and Moslem regulations. The groups also demanded that the government rescind allocations granted for exportings animals which have not yet been stunned before slaughter. The groups presented the petition to the Ministers of Welfare, Public Health, Agriculture and Fisheries.
