A protest demonstration by European Jewish students is being planned for Sunday outside the controversial Carmelite convent at Auschwitz.
The students, numbering about 300, will march around the grounds of the former death camp, registering their outrage at the continuing presence of the Carmelite convent, according to Elan Steinberg, executive director of the World Jewish Congress.
The protest is being organized by the European Union of Jewish Students, a WJC affiliate.
The demonstration will come nine days after seven American Jews were reportedly kicked and beaten when they entered the convent grounds to stage a protest.
