Pope John Paul II will receive three Arab foreign ministers and an official of the Arab League at the Vatican on Saturda, to discuss the situation in Lebanon and other Middle East issues, according to an announcement by Vatican spokesman Joaquin Navarro Valls.

The pope was reported to be considering a visit to Lebanon last summer, but the worsening security situation there prevented it.

Valls said the pope’s meeting would be with the foreign minister of Saudi Arabia, Prince Saud al Faisal, the Moroccan foreign minister, Abdellatif Filali, Foreign Minister Ahmed al Ghozali of Algeria and Akbar Al-Ibrahimi, deputy secretary of the Arab League.
