The Israeli government signed a wage agreement Sunday with the Histadrut labor federation that may ensure two years of labor peace in Israel.

Uncertainty exists because unions representing professional workers and civil servants refused to sign the pact, which was concluded after months of negotiations with the Treasury.

The pact finally reached calls for a 9 percent wage hike for public sector employees, spread over the years 1991-92.
