Three Israeli police officials and a Muslim clergyman were injured at the Temple Mount in Jerusalem on Thursday, when 20 members of a far-right Jewish group tried to enter the complex to pray.
A scuffle broke out when police and Muslim officials responsible for overseeing Islamic holy sites in the Old City forcibly tried to remove the members of the Chai V’Kayam group. Twelve of the demonstrators were detained.
Israel has banned Jewish and Christian groups from holding prayers on the Temple Mount out of concern that disturbances could spark.
