Israeli security forces have arrested 11 Arabs from eastern Jerusalem suspected of helping the terrorists responsible for the February and March suicide bombings that killed 59 people.

The suspects were arrested shortly after the attacks, but the police refused to release details until now.

Israel Radio reported that the detainees were suspected of helping the terrorists in the two bus No. 18 bombings in Jerusalem, and the suicide bombing at a hitchhiking stop near Ashkelon.

The detainees were recruited by the Islamic fundamentalist Hamas in Gaza, where some underwent military training and others transported explosives to Jerusalem.

Meanwhile, a 41-year-old Arab was shot and lightly wounded by Israeli border police Thursday near Jerusalem’s Old City.

The incident occurred when dozens of Arabs threw stones and bottles at border police near the Damascus Gate.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
