JERUSALEM, Jan. 14 (JTA) — An Israeli building contractor was killed Tuesday by a Palestinian youth from the West Bank, Israeli media reported. Ya’akov Yamin, 60, was found dead near a construction site in Jerusalem’s Ramat Sharet neighborhood. The Arab youth apparently had been brought to the construction site by Yamin from the Gilo checkpoint in southern Jerusalem, a senior police official said. Yamin was hit repeatedly with a heavy, blunt object, police reported. The assailant was believed to have fled to the Palestinian self-rule areas. While police suspect that the slaying was a terrorist act, they were not ruling out other motives.
