Sen. Alfonse D’Amato (R-N.Y.) and Rep. Christopher Smith (R-N.J.) urged Romania to block moves to pardon six members of the country’s wartime fascist government. In a letter to Romania’s president the two lawmakers warned that the pardons could negatively affect Romania’s bid to join NATO.
