U.S. officials filed a formal request to Israel for the extradition of a Jewish American teen-ager wanted for allegedly committing a brutal murder in Maryland earlier this year. After pressure from the United States, Israel’s attorney general said Samuel Sheinbein was not an Israeli citizen and could be extradited.
