The Smithsonian Institution canceled a controversial series on Israel that was slated to take a critical look at the Jewish state. The U.S. national museum pulled the plug on the program in the wake of pressure from Jewish groups and members of Congress. The head of the New Israel Fund, a co-sponsor, expressed disappointment that the Smithsonian had bowed to “Jewish McCarthyites.”
